Avery asked whether scouts were interested in earning services hours for advancement, so many of us delayed starting on the campout so that we could help spread mulch in the beautiful gardens around the Lightkeeper. Dinner was served in order of who was ready first, making an organized line to be served. A bucket of cold water, soap warm water, and bleach water. It went by fast one a man on each station and one drying the utensils of fellow scouts. A game of manhunt was organized and playing during the night hours after dinner and cleanup. Manhunt is a game with one seeker and many hiders continuously running from the seeker and he chases them down. Once tagged you help the seeker find people and tag them. The last person standing is the winner. The cabin was full of old furniture . Ackley was our Adult Leader and Derek was the scout in charge of leading the activity. Ackley and considering how large a group we were, everything seemed to run smoothly. Most of us got to the Rec Center on Friday night between 7pm and 9pm.! Ackley handed out vouchers and we ordered our breakfast sandwiches, pancakes and other good stuff. We had another brief troop meeting to remind everyone that we wanted everyone to come in for lunch at 1. At 1. 1: 3. 0 most of us were there and Mr. Ackley gave us the lunch vouchers. We then headed over to the Lodge to buy breakfast and we decided to make another attempt to take a group picture just outside of the Base Lodge. Most of us decided to leave between 3: 0. Oddleifson. We departed the locker at around 7: 3. Mr. Fogarty took the cooking supplies out of the truck so our cooks, Evan and Adam B. The meals were grilled chicken, stuffing, potatoes & corn or beef stew. Because of the adverse conditions, Mr. Oddleifson led the troop in a communication exercise called . This time we were not going to nice warm Cape Cod; instead we were heading north, 1. Our mighty group was setting out to climb three major peaks in the White Mountains, including Mt. Lafayette which is almost an entire mile above sea level. Greg was the leader of this trip, responsible for getting common gear packed everyone in their cars and on the road by 7: 3. When we got to the campsite in Franconia around 1. Unlike most camping trip meals, this meal actually contained food other than pasta! The menu was hotdogs, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, and beans. The beans and hotdogs were extremely well cooked. Hillman quickly took a picture of us with the Troop 2. Jackisch decided to send half of the group ahead while the other half stayed behind with Reagan who had injured ankle. The lead group managed to make it to our campsite 3 miles away just as it was getting dark. Group 1 started building a fire to warm up and make preparations for dinner. The second group hiked for around an hour in the dark guided only by headlamps. Everyone ate fairly quickly and went to bed.
